What Is Anxiety?
Anxiety
What is it like to have anxiety? Your mind is constantly full of worries. You lie awake at night going over the days events wondering if you said or did the right things. You often dread the next day and what it may bring. Anxiety can take over your life. It can make you avoid meeting new people because the nerves you feel cause you to sweat, shake or blush. Because of this you can become extremely self-conscious with little or no confidence. It can be hard to switch off and relax and this can take a real toll on your body. Tiredness, headaches, dizziness and irritable bowel are common when we have chronic anxiety. Many people also experience panic attacks where they feel an overwhelming sense of fear, breathlessness, racing heart and dizziness. Anxiety is a common experience that affects an estimated 260 million people worldwide. It is often caused by painful or traumatic experiences but can also be triggered by a built up of stress in our lives.
